The ten year plus build out of the Stella Maris Condos in the New Orleans French Quarter is rather unique. The condos are larger than most featuring 2 and 3 bedrooms units between 1200 sq. ft. and 1600 sq. ft. Secure parking with a remote controlled gate. Great location within the Quarter is tough to beat.
The 20 very distinctive condominiums combine the ambiance of French Quarter living with the modern conveniences. Features include interior balconies, parking, lush courtyard, swimming pool, and exterior views. They are much more like Warehouse District Condos than any of the other condos I have seen in the French Quarter.
The exposed brick , French doors, spacious floor plans, high ceilings, interior balconies opening into the courtyard. The upscale finishing granite countertops European style white laminated cabinets, full size washer and dryer, and wood floors.
The condos were awarded a 1995 Vieux Carre' Commission Architectural Award.
A purely by chance finding is the the Chartres pattern was built in 1201 which is the address of the condos on Chartres. This is an odd fact that I found when researching the condos.
Most popular with churches is the Chartres labyrinth pattern. It originated in the early Middle Ages specifically to incorporate Christian meaning and symbolism. The most elegant and best-known version of the Medieval pattern is the one found in Chartres Cathedral, France.
It was built in 1201 and still going strong. Other Gothic cathedrals had labyrinths, but they were generally removed when the floors were renovated. Because of the high quality of the dense limestone found near Chartres, the floor is in excellent condition.
