Destrehan plantation up river from New Orleans was built in 1792 along the Mississppi River is near Ormond Estates and St. Rose. A more suburban and family lifestyle an easy commute to many places in the River Parishes as well as the New Orleans metro area. So it is a area to consider for larger lots, good prices and the availiabilty of new construction. A great place to start a family and have one of the better public school systems to use.

St. Rose
St. Rose on your way to Destrehan via River Road with easy access to I-310 and to Airline Highway. This area has exploed with new construction with the developement of several new subdivisions. The lots are larger and a lot less expensive than those in Metairie. New homes have been one of the bright spots in this area for real estate. Oak Manor, Riverwood, Riverbend, Diane Place are all in St. Rose.
Riverwood Subdivision-New Homes and New Construction
Riverwood is a gated community where new construction was started several years ago. The starting prices are going to be in the 270s with the lot value approaching the 70s. Most homes are going to be starting at 2500 sq. ft. There are some vacant lots left and some new construction going on for some spec homes. Near the I-310 with easy access to I-10 and to the westbank of St. Charles offers an easy commute to Metairie and Kenner. It Riverwood is an easy 15 minutes to the New Orleans Airport.
Red Church, 15 years young from the 150k range
Red Church off River Road is a great are to find homes in the 150-160k range. Most of the homes are in the 15-20 year range with the sizes ranging from 1600-2000 sq. ft. Many will have garages, well kept yards, and many updates.
Riverbend Subdivision- New Construction
Riverbend of St. Rose features new construction on lots that average 70x130. Lots are still availiable with most of the homes being in the 260k range to the low 300k range, Easy commute to Metairie,Westbank, or Kenner. Airline Highway to Almedia Rd. to River Road. Riverbend is right off River Road. The planned subdivision has its rules and regulations which helps to enchance values in the future. This includes min. size , setback regulations, gasrage regulations among others. Call me for details on Riverbend.
Ormond Country Club Estates
Ormond was one of the original subdivisions on the east bank of St. Charles parish. It is a planned community which was rare in Metairie, River Ridge and Jefferson Parish. Being developed about 20-25 years ago some of the homes are beginning to show their age but many have been upgraded and remodeled. The Subdivision is divided into several parts. The Ormond country club has an 18 hole golf course with a club house,driving range,tennis courts, and pools. All the areas are close to schools which are among the best in the state. Many homes are on the golf course side, most of these are going to start in the 300k range with homes not on the golf course in the 250k range. The east side of the non golf course side homes start in the 170s with many nice home in the 1800-2200 sq. ft. range. A lot of the homes on the riverside of Ormond feature acre lots and larger homes. There are several newer areas that feature newer homes in several different price ranges. Acadian trace adjacent to Ormond.
St. Charles Parish
St. Charles Parish is one of two parishes that comprise the Cote des Allemands or German coast, a stretch of terrain on the Mississippi River above New Orleans. The coast was originally one of twelve Territory of Orleans counties created in 1805.Two years later, in 1807, when the territory was re-divided into nineteen parishes, St. Charles Parish was formed.After John Law´s Company of the West unsuccessfully attracted companies to settle in the Louisiana Territory, news began to spread about the available land. In an effort to escape war and ensuing French Occupation, German peasants sought a better life with more opportunities in the New World. In 1720, German yeomen were reportedly the first group to settle in St. Charles Parish. Prior to the arrival of German peasants, the French colony largely consisted of criminals and vagabonds deported from France. Some of the German descendants still reside in the area, though their names have been altered by French and English spellings and translations.

Montz, almost out of St. Charles like the country
Montz is your last area in St. Charles before the spillway and St. John Parish. The lots are larger and far cheaper than other areas of the parish. This is an area where you can get a new home from the 170s to the 210k range with garage. Take Evangline from Airline Hwy. towards River Road.

I sell quite a few each year because of the prices and the schools. New construction is getting hard to find under 300k is getting hard to find.
