The Hawthorne Condos were converted into condos in the mid nineties originally sold for the mid 60ks. Its an 18 unit apartment building building most likely built in the 1920s or 1930s. It is 18 single units with parking in the basement. Lots of light since all the units have plenty of windows as this was before a/c. It is a block from Napoleon Ave. and a short walk to Manales famous for the bar-b-que shrimp. The units are about 650 sq. ft. each with solid oak flooring, wood windows,lots of light, small kitchens, nice closet space, and a great view of St. Charles Ave. There are very few like this so I decided to highlight it because its so different. Right there on the parade route, rent it out and go skiing or enjoy carnival up close. If you know anything or can add the the info I have on this building just let me know as it is unique for New Orleans. Thanks Eric
This is a nice place to start if you are looking for a small condo in a great location that has some historic features with parking. Many of the units are not updated but being small they can be redone rather easily.

Manales
"This is absoultly my favorite restaurant in N.O. The only problem I have is that I get full before I can eat all that I want to eat. We always start with raw oysters from the oyster bar, which is a blast!!! Then if the place is really packed, we order another drink and stand around to visit with friends. We all have our favorites. Mine is to start out with Escargo, then the Greek Salad (which I share with my husband), then the best in the world Barbque Shrimp!!!! If you are not just about to POP, try the pecan pie for desert. I have told many of my friends about this restaurant and now they also go there whenever they are in town." someone said this about Manales
